068Z3400 Danfoss Thermostatic expansion valve, T 2, R404A/R507A

Expansion valve is an important component in the refrigeration system, usually installed between the liquid storage cylinder and the evaporator. 

The expansion valve throttles the medium temperature and high pressure liquid refrigerant into low temperature and low pressure wet vapor, and then the refrigerant absorbs heat in the evaporator to achieve refrigeration effect. 

The expansion valve controls the valve flow rate through the change in superheat at the end of the evaporator, preventing insufficient utilization of evaporator area and cylinder knocking.

2. Select Orifice

A: T2/TE2 valve capacities are based on the installed orifice. To select the correct size, use one of the two methods below: System characteristics: Select the orifice using appropriate refrigerant, evaporator temperature, and system capacity.

B: Nominal capacity of the installed valve: Use the nominal capacity of the originally installed valve and match with the nominal capacity in chart (3rd column from left).
It mainly plays a role in throttling, reducing pressure, and regulating flow, consisting of three main parts: valve body, temperature sensor, and balance pipe

Thermosensitive bulb
The temperature sensing bag is filled with refrigerant in a gas-liquid equilibrium saturated state, which is not connected to the refrigerant in the system. 
It is usually tied to the outlet pipe of the evaporator and in close contact with the pipe to sense the temperature of the superheated steam at the outlet of the evaporator. Since the refrigerant inside it is saturated, the pressure in the saturated state is transmitted to the valve body based on the temperature.
Folding balance tube
One end of the balance tube is connected to the evaporator outlet slightly away from the temperature sensing bulb and directly connected to the valve body through a capillary tube. The function is to transmit the actual pressure at the evaporator outlet to the valve body. There are two diaphragms inside the valve body, which move upward under pressure to reduce the refrigerant flow through the expansion valve and seek balance in dynamic state.
